Going dotty...

Two dotty related demos this month! Kay will be showing you how to create a mini canvas using acrylic paint techniques. Although this is potentially the slightly messier of the two techniques this month, we don't anticipate you will get too messy. However, if you prefer to wear an apron then please bring one along. Also if you have your own paintbrushes that you prefer to use, then bring them along too. Paint, brushes and other painting tools and mini canvas will be provided.

As we know some of you prefer the traditional card making demos, our other demo will be to create these "bubble stamp" cards. Linda will be on hand for this demo. These cards were a popular choice at Village Day this year and lend themselves to a range of occasions.

Also don't forget to bring in your "Collage Challenge for a male" cards this month too.

See you on Wednesday.

Colouring Competition!

First of all a very big thank you to our guest demonstrator and judge at our June workshop - Zoe Green of NameScape fame.

Zoe provided the inspiration for our Summer card competition with her amazing NameScape pictures. Zoe hand draws all her pictures and uses Promarkers to colour them. She personalises each picture based on the recipient's hobbies, interests and experiences.

Follow the NameScape links to see further examples of her work. Here is the very detailed picture she drew for my daughter Emma for her 13th Birthday.

For our competition we chose to work with numbers rather than names. The challenge was to personalise them using a range of stamps and embellishments and obviously incorporate some of the Promarker techniques that Zoe demonstrated for us. She shared her knowledge (20 year's worth!) of using Promarkers to create light and shade and 3D effects, as well as her passion for the purple Promarkers! Here are some photos of you all in action following the demo.

Zoe also very kindly agreed to judge the finished cards, a job which she said she found very difficult because of the standard of the cards produced. Well done to everyone who took part. See below for the finished cards and...drum roll please...photos of the winners with their cards!

And the winners were:

Penny in third place with her 61st patchwork card that perfectly coordinates with her outfit! Well done Penny!

Sue in second place with her pink and purple glittery 20th card. Well done Sue! Penny and Sue both won a grown-up colouring book!

And the winner was Carol Shenton with her purple floral 60th card which also coordinates very well with her outfit! Carol won her membership back as well as a grown-up colouring book. Well done Carol!

Well done to everyone for rising to the challenge. And thank you again to Zoe. We hope to see you at Card Club again soon!

Village Day 2015 Photos

Well another successful Village Day with a steady flow of customers and some regulars returning to stock up on their cards. We were sandwiched between the YMCA bottle tombola and the Alzheimer's Society stalls this year - guess that is about where we fit in real life! The weather stayed fine again and an enjoyable day was had by all. Thank you to Karen, Sue, Penny, Rachael and Katherine for their help on the day.

Here are a few pics of the stall set up.

Michelle cling-filmed the cards to the stand this year to save time on set up!
Here she is dancing with it!!

All ready to go. Katherine keeping an eye on things.

Zoe's Ashtead NameScape drew a lot of people in to the stall this year
 - very eye-catching.

This is the pre-coloured version of Zoe's limited edition Ashtead NameScape.
