Mirrors, mosaics and more!

Our second workshop for this week was our first Saturday workshop of the year! (It does make sense if you think about it!) At our Saturday workshops we can get stuck in to more in depth crafty projects as we have longer - all day if you so choose!! So for this workshop we chose mosaics and altered mirrors/boxes etc using bitumen and paint. See below for the results.

We had two groups of people for the mosaic workshop - a morning session and an afternoon session. As it is important that the tile adhesive dries, the pictures below are pre-grouting. We look forward to seeing photos of the finished items as the range of designs was amazing!

Our other workshop on Saturday was the bitumen technique, for producing an aged design, suitable for most wooden items with a reasonable flat surface area to work on. So mirrors, wooden boxes (including Turkish Delight boxes!) etc. Again some very impressive results.

Well done to you all and thank you to Kay and Michelle for the demos.

Button up!

We had a successful AGM last week - thank you to Karen for hosting and to everyone who attended. I will be emailing the minutes out to you very soon, along with a draft copy of workshops for the year ahead.

Our workshop this week is based around buttons. My demo will be sewing-based cards (however, for both designs above you could get away with the bare minimum of sewing if it is really not your thing.) I will be bringing my sewing machine though, and needles and thread, so be warned!

If you really have a needle phobia, then Michelle will be doing a completely non-sewing option. She will be using buttons to create different designs on cards, using glue/glue dots to attach the buttons.

Feel free to bring any favourite buttons, sewing kits, relevant stamp sets etc.

And don't forget you could use buttons on your mirrors. Here are a couple of ideas for inspiration below...Click on the picture to take you to the relevant web sites.

See you on Wednesday.
