Paint charts, punches and paper piecing...

Looks like we are all ready for February 14th after last week's workshop! Lots of hearts in various styles. Here are the paint chart hearts using shades of the same colour tone.

And a couple of mosaic style hearts...

And a couple of cards exploring colour/tone in a different way...

The paper piecing demo explored the use of pattern as well as colour...first up paper strips, with a few hearts creeping in though!

Paper weaving...

And moving away from paper strips to incorporating torn paper, matting and layering and other shapes, oh and a few hearts!

Happy New Card Club Year...

...bit late but like Chinese New Year it starts a month in!!

Anyway the first workshop of the year will take place on Wednesday (27th) timing 7.45 - 9.45pm - dates now confirmed with the Church Hall. So the usual last Wednesday of the month apart - from our two in November.

Our first workshop of the year will feature paper mosaics and paper piecing - exploring colour and pattern choices. There is a slight Valentine's focus, but it doesn't have to be all hearts!

Shades of one colour - pastel pinks and red

Contrasting colours - brights

Shades of primary colours

Ombre effect using punches and paint chart chips

We will also be discussing the year ahead. I sent out invites before Christmas to everyone who is on Pinterest to post to our new board - Ideas for 2016 - but not sure everyone has accepted their invites. Please check your notifications so you can get pinning your ideas. (That includes you Michelle!!) If you use the Pinterest App I'm aware it is not always obvious that you have an invite. Let me know if you are having any problems and I can try to resend the invites.

See you on Wednesday.

Pleased as punch

At this month's workshop we will be looking at different ways of using punches and die cuts to help us get a head start for Village Day on June 13th. It will be a good opportunity to make cards for occasions other than birthdays - new baby, graduation, new home etc - we always try to make sure we have every occasion covered on the stall on Village Day!

Watch out its going to...
...explode!!!

And the results are in for last month's challenge. To be announced on Wednesday!!

Juan Sheet!!

So tomorrow's workshop - CHRISTMAS!!!! No getting away from it now the shops have got Christmas stuff in. So tomorrow one of our demos is a challenge demo - make a set of Christmas cards out of one sheet of paper - (not "Juan Sheet" of the Plenty Kitchen Roll advert as the title suggests!) Choose your background paper, decide how to cut it up to get maximum usage, jazz up the paper a bit if you like, then add embellishments and greetings. Job done and Christmas cards started - (next year's for you Mandy!!)

The second demo will be punch art/die cut cards using basic shapes as a starting point for Christmas themed cards like the tree below.

Also don't forget to bring your challenge cards this month - new card from old. And we will have a new Christmas take home challenge for you too.

Hopefully your altered mirrors are coming along well for the Christmas competition too. If you haven't had chance yet you might want to come along to our Saturday workshop on Saturday 5th October. We will be making items suitable for gifts for Christmas using scrapbook papers and Mod Podge. This is a technique that works well with the mirrors and many other things. Other projects could include coasters and table mats, washer necklaces, tins, glass vases, card organiser boxes, Countdown to Christmas decorations etc. Mod Podge mania!!

Some of the projects are quicker than others so both full and half day workshops will be available again.

Workshop Costs:

 Half Day (10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm) - £6 Members, £7 Non-Members

 Full Day (10am-4pm) - £10 Members, £12 Non-members

See you tomorrow.
